Joint Sponsorship
OOA District Academies (and others) are invited to partner with the OOA's not for profit arm, Ohio Osteopathic Foundation (OOF), to jointly sponsor continuing medical education programs. The OOF is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to sponsor Category 1 CME to help osteopathic physicians meet mandatory licensing requirements.
The OOF and sponsorship partners must follow the AOA manual, Accreditation Requirements for Category 1 CME Sponsors. The process below outlines the CME Joint Sponsorship Steps.
STEP 1 Getting Event Approval
Complete the CME Co-Sponsor Approval Form no less than 60 days before the CME event.
STEP 2 Getting the Necessary Documents
Refer to the CME CHECKLIST to gather the necessary documents required by the AOA for program audit.
Please be aware the CME program brochure or agenda distributed to participants must list commercial supporters, identify audience, and state the following:
The Ohio Osteopathic Foundation is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. The Ohio Osteopathic Foundation designated this program for a maximum of ____ hours of AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits in accordance with the extent of the physicians’ participation in this activity.
STEP 3 Getting the Physicians their CME Credit
After the event, the following must be emailed to the OOF to Heidi Weber at hweber@ohiodo.org
- Final program/agenda
- Roster of Attendance must be submitted on the excel document provided by the AOA
- Speaker Roster must be submitted on the excel document provided by the AOA
- Specialty Credit Spreadsheet (if applicable) must be submitted on the word document provided by the AOA
