OPPA 2026 Annual Psychiatric Update - April 18-19, in Columbus Ohio

Plans are well underway for OPPA's 2026 Annual Psychiatric Update, which will be held on April 18-19, at the Hilton Polaris in Columbus. Several speakers have already been confirmed, including: Roger S. McIntyre, MD, professor of psychiatry and pharmacology at the University of Toronto who will discuss GLP-1 agonists and their impact on psychiatry and Henry Nasrallah, MD, Professor of Psychiatry, Neurology, and Neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine who will discuss human gut microbiota and its profound role in brain health. Also joining us will be Phil Resnick, MD who will discuss gun violence and Shah Jalees, MD, who will share his moving and inspirational personal experience with depression.

OPPA testifies on House Bill 219 - network adequacy by insurance plans
OPPA President Nita Bhatt, MD, submitted proponent testimony to members of the Ohio House Insurance Committee on House Bill 219, legislation that would require each health plan issuer to maintain an adequate network of physicians and other providers. The bill aims to ensure patients have access to a sufficient number and range of specialists, allowing them to obtain covered services without unreasonable travel or delay.
